Internet backup for $5 a month
Looking for a cheap and simple pc backup system?
A new company called Carbonite says no problem. The new tech entry has developed a software package that uploads your files to a storage hub in New York. It only takes a few minutes and you are hooked up to Carbonite.
David Friend says for $5 a month his company will backup your files, regardless of information size, with a simple log on. It may take awhile for the initial encrypted backup depending on your internet hookup speed and the amount of files you are backing up. But future uploads will include only modified files, ergo quicker uploads. He likes to think of his system as the iPod of backup.
Personal online backup is still in its infancy, but watch out if internet providers start offering their own backups. Friend says he is talking with the big boys about offering his system to their subscribers.
