Eyeing Lasik?

Are you a good candidate for Lasik eye surgery? As you age, the cornea in your eye gets more layers and actually changes the shape of your eye. Lasik surgery restores the original shape of your cornea.

Most Lasik surgeons will require a where you will be asked why you are seeking the surgery as well as check your eye and overall health. If you have glaucoma, thinning of the cornea (keratoconus), the use of only one eye or even severe dry eye issues, fuggedaboutit. If you suffer from lupus, rheumatoid arthritis or diabetes you are not a good candidate for successful lasik surgery.

Pregnant? Wait until after the baby is born. It seems your hormones, always at play during pregnancy, can affect your eyesight. Under 18? Nope, wait until you hit 21.

Costs vary from state to state and clinic to clinic, but a ballpark range is over a thousand to 25 hundred per eye. That will buy a lot of pairs of glasses, so make sure you ask a lot of questions and get the answers you need to make a wise decision. For more information check out the FDA's site.
