Simplicity repair or adjustment help please
#1   Jan 11, 2009 11:04 pm
Hello everyone.

Am new to the forum, being an recent owner of a Simplicity 1428E as my first ever snowblower. I am in the need of suggestions from the knowledgeable people on this site. During transporting my snowblower from another house on a trailer the cable for the "easy turn" trigger hase ceased to function and the cable is loose. I am assuming that the cable has become unattached. Is this something that a person who is not mechanically gifted can fix or should I call the dealer? I did some preventative maintenence upon delivery but have not adjusted the belts yet so I could kill two birds with one stone.

Thanks in advance for your responses!
Grease and lubrication choices
#2   Dec 17, 2008 12:42 pm
Hello all.

Just having purchased a new snow blower and being not all that mechanically inclined (not alot of grease in the garage) I was wondering where to apply, what types and what brand names of greases and lubricants that I should use before I put the machine into service to ensure proper operation and longevity.  I have a Simplicity 1428E (from dealer and "set up" by him) and was hoping to be able to pick the materials up at a local store so please try to keep the products as common as possible.  Any other tips regarding a pre-start check list would be appreciated.  Do not be afraid to go slow and dull it down for me as you will not be insulting.  Thanks for your comments.

Ariens vs Simplicity: Winner Simplicity
#3   Dec 13, 2008 12:04 am
Hello all

Thanks for all of your posts concerning my decision regarding a snowblower choice.  It is a priveledge to have access to such a knowledgable bunch.  At the end of the day, weighting all options and pros and cons, I have pulled the trigger and purchased the Simplicity 1428E.  It will be delivered tommorw.  I was wondering if anyone could go through the process or forward myself a list of what should been done before, during, and after the first and subsequent uses of the machine.  Keep in mind that I may be a little mechanically challenged so please take it slow.  For the first time in my life I am thinking a blizzard may not be a bad thing...  Thanks in advance for your responses.

Re: Ariens 927LE. Annoying chute control

Looking at the same model I was also disappointed at the ackwardness of the chute control.  I played around with the controls at the local box store and was astounded at the placement of this control.  You have to reach over and down with your left hand to operate the chute.  I am not short at 6'3" but still found it ackward.  Good luck in finding a replacement.

Hello Borat.

Thanks for your prompt post.  It was something I read here in a post about the new eletric remote chute controls having problems freezing up.  Not speaking from personal experience.  Your beleif that the Simplicity is a better machine over the modern Ariens is a common trend I have been hearing over the past few days.  Just to pick your brain would that have been true a few years ago or is it a new fad along with the modernization of the Ariens company.  Do you htink having a tech doing the first time set up of the machine is beneficial?  Thanks again.
