Be disaster ready

We rarely think about disasters until one is imminent . When Katrina hit we were reminded but we tend to forget quickly.

If you or a loved one is in wheelchair you should visit ready.gov.

Ready.gov is the government's disaster preparedness web site that is full of useful information.  Their section on those with disabilities is good.

Here are two of their really good tips: "Show others how to operate your wheelchair." and "Know the size and weight of your wheelchair, in addition to whether or not it is collapsible, in case it has to be transported."

These two items may seem obvious but just imagine if you were not ready.  Be safe.
