The initial rates may be low when shopping around for the best auto insurer, but what about when something actually happens and you need them?

A recent survey says by and large, the insurers are keeping their clients happy. Only ten percent felt they got a jack in premium after filing a claim and the three major firms cited were Hartford Insurance of the Midwest, Hartford Underwriters and Travelers Indemnity.

What about the repair shop you use? Seven per cent surveyed said they were pushed into using one of the insurer’s selected shops. Liberty Mutual and Commerce Insurance were cited most often for this kind of pressure. And if you want original equipment in your replacements, which is your right, don’t insure with American Family Mutual Insurance, Nationwide Mutual Fire Insurance, Nationwide Mutual Insurance and Commerce Insurance.
