Just Wanted to introduce myself
Original Message   Mar 18, 2008 11:25 pm
I'm really getting bit by the vac bug lately!

I have a Hoover Mach 4.7 Windtunnel

Found it in the trash.

Boy it was a mess but think I finally got it clean

I hate to thjink what it ate

It really sucks but it moves like a bear

Its hepa fills w white powder & its a mess to shake it out

Endless white powder...

My main & all time fav is the electrolux cannister.

Guess I grew up with them

Grandma & my Mom had them

I even had one of them real old tanks once

Sorry I let it go

But I currently have 3

Olympia think its going on the e place

A deluxe silverado

a 2100

They don't pick up the fine stuff

guess I would need to buy the microlined bags

but are great for sucking up birdseed

My new fav is a old Royal 886 6 Amp

I love the all metal design

Built like a tank & easy to use it almsot vacs itself

Thing is it doesn't suck as well or groom the nap as well as the Hoover w a clean filter

It could need a roller?

I think the hoover does too

Make an annoying bearing noise...

So the rainbow came in & really got the carpets clean as I have sprayed them

It was worth iot even for a few cleans as the poor thing came all busted

But I can't see how it holds itself together with the tape & contact cement I used...

So now I am lusting over Filter Queen & Kirby

I think the FQ cannister is best for me

but I am wondering how the new Kirby G series will comapre to the suction of my Royal.

Well, thanks for a great forum.

Not really part of my collection

but also grabbed from trash

I use them for the garage & things

Kenmore Progressive Hepa

Hoover Convertible think its a 97...

Dirt devil wierd upright 12 A with a cone hepa filter & a pint bagless system. Thing is useless & its clean I checked it but it just makes noise. Misses so many things...its useless & only barely good for barefloors which I think it was designed for

Its going back in the trash

1. Vacuuming my car.  I have to pass over the carpet several times with the Royal to vacuum up the debris.  Once with the Kirby (and Dyson).

2. Dust on baseboards or other items.  Do not allow the hose end to touch the item.  The Kirby and Dyson will pull the dust away.  You have to touch the dust with the Royal hose.

3. Vacuuming carpet.  The Royal seldom picks up items such as threads or sock fuzz on the first pass..  The others do.  Yes I know this is not all suction related.

4. During the Kirby demo the salesman placed filter pads on the bottom of the vacuums.  The Dyson held as many as the Kirby.  The Royal held about half of the others before they fell off.

Nothing scientific or biased.  Just results.

I think we all BS every once in a while, myself included, personally I think it wouldn't be as much fun without embellishing something once in a while.  You know how the old saying goes, if you can't dazzle 'em with brilliance, baffle 'em with bullsh*t.

It's just that some on here do it more than most because truth can't make the machines they're "pushing" better than the Dyson

Like to try a Kirby

Just wondering if it was a sort of hype but we all have our favorites. Thing I don;t like is the handle design/bag. Don't like the way it sits on the G's. Also looks very unfriendly for lefty's as it would seem your leg would hit the bag as its placed on the left. I so often see the handles leaning to one side & I wonder if they attach securely.

Nothing worse thatn pushing a heavy vac w a wobbly handle. Dirt does dance in front of the royal as it is shown with the Kirby but the royal doesn't agitate or pull up the nap like the Hoover windtunnel which was a fraction of the cost. Was thinking it could also be a worn roller as its got a new belt. I live in an apt with 25 plus yo worn carpet & it really needs all the fluffing it can get...

Welcome, you'll find a lot of knowledge here.  But can you please do us a favor and try not to start a new line with each sentence?  That would be very helpful as well.

Do me a favor and type that way.  Why?

When the wizards here post their pics

it makes the words wrap around the

computer screen and it takes 10 minutes to read

a short post.  Besides it's easier to speed read.

Sorry Tom, I mean Motorhead, but to each

his own.

I'll speak for myself in the future if you don't mind.

You can speak for yourself [and Tom Gasko].

Hi

The Kirby is the worlds best vacuum cleaner[excuse me home sanitation system], Its 10 machines in one,an upright ,a portable canister, carpet shampooer, hair dryer, buffer, waxer, knive sharpener, paint your house with it,groom your dog ,blow up air matreeses, even demothes your closet. It has a lifetime warranty[not],It's made in the usa with parts imported from other sources[oops i was not suppose to say that]. It will save you a membership at the local gym.

IT's the best vacuum on the planet,we make a ton of money on parts and service.IT'S LIKE SAYING ROLLS-ROYCE when you come in for service. And your local kirby distributor is always on call to assist you, unless you want your money back. And now for the best part ,the finance plans, you can afford only 1 dollar a week cant you.

Hey Carmine did BUFFETT buy kirby because he liked the machine or the management.

As usual Mole, a very good question.  According to Buffett himself, he looks for 2 must have qualities when he makes and investment/purchase in a company:  One: An excellent product [service], and two: Excellent management.  Why?  Buffett is a hands off leader.  He always lets the management team in place stay in place.

If he had bought May-pool.  We would still have English speaking Hoovers, orbital transmissions and Jetcleaned dishes.

You are joking--aren't you???

Kirby is under the Scott Fetzer umbrella.  World Book, Douglass/Quick Cut and Campbell Hausfeld should have been a tip off.

Me thinks you are joking.  I bet he doesn't even like cookies.
