Ryobi 790r trimmer

Good Evening,

 I have a Ryobi 790r weed trimmer 2 stroke engine which I was starting to tear apart but then got to thinking yes I bought her in 2000 & to some that is old but the reason it has been just sitting in the barn is it has always been a pain to start I hate 2 stroke engines. So I started looking at new ones I see they have 4 stroke engines someone on another forum told me to look at Honda's but at $400. I can't see paying this I have always been a big fan of John Deere's but there up there too. So now I'm looking at 24 volt cordless. One that I have been reading real good things about is the American Gardener YS24 yardstick I like the idea of no gas no oil easy to start & the price.

 What I would like to know is can anyone tell me anything about these cordless weed trimmers?. Having said that I'm not a big yard fan I don't care if my yard looks like a golf course or the ruff. I'm just sick of beating up on my John Deere cause I can never get this weed trimmer to start.

Carlisle Snow Hog tires

 Good Afternoon,

 I put a set of Carlisle Snow Hog tires on my Toro Snow thrower as I was told these are a very agressive tire the tires that were on her before this were the original Toro tires with chains.

 I was told by the Toro place these tires do not need chains & hurt the traction I bought them off the internet & mounted them. Well today was her first big test we live on a hill so the driveway is steep & we get a drift to boot.

 It really took a lot for her to come back up the driveway as the tires were trying to bite but just slipping & the blower was wandering all over. So I would like to put chains on her what I need to know is this a good idea?. And is it true that chains hurt the traction of these tires?

 I have seen chains for sale for these tires & beleive that our drive is so steep that I need chains but don't want to spend money for nothing. Can anyone tell me what I should do.

John Deere JX75 lawn mower

Good afternoon,

 I have a 98 John Deere JX75 lawn mower that has been giving me trouble when I go to pull her back the rear wheels lock. I took the pinion gears off & there is a plastic shield behind the wheels one side was broken alowing grass & crud to get up in there. One side came out fine the other was rusted there is a shaft key operated buy a small spring that rides on ramps inside the pinion gear. So this one side the key was locked in the up position which meant I was locked in forward. So after getting her off & cleaning everything I'm ready to put her back together.

 I did order a new plastic shield but do not trust these. So what I would like to do & need to ask if anyone thinks this would be a good idea is to put a little tranny fluid or power steering fluid inside the pinion gear so the shaft key will ride the ramps better?

 I would just like to use some kind of light lubircant as when these shaft keys jam in the grove it is a bear to pull the lawn mower backward as it is locked in forward. Also if anyone can think of any other lubircant (light not thick) I can use please let me know or if u think this is not a good idea please let me know?

Good Morning,

 Thank you for the picture I doubt if my Toro place will have them but I do have a doctors apointment today & there is a farm & tractor store out there so I'm going to stop there with the part numbers at least I have them for the bolts! & they have helped me in the past . The primer bulb I have no part number for & can't even find it on the Briggs & Stratton web site but did find the model # yesterday for the engine & do have the old one.

 I did order 4 from Super X Power on the net but am worried now that I know about them that they will fall out!. I really have no clue what these are supose to look like hell I did not even know what they were or did.  But you are right they do cost once you figure in the spacers & all the other stuff.

 I guess in a way I'm lucky they are rusted in & then again in away I'm not but I do know I'm stocking up on them I only wish on the older Toros they did not have that big drum as they look so easy to replace on the new machines.

 Well we shall see today what happens I guess it really doesn't matter as she is sitting dead in the water cause of that stupid primer bulb I did glue mine not sure if that was right but it came back up & last night before leaving for work just hooked it up & it seemed to prime her. Anyway hopefully if I can find these bolts or pins I'll try to replace them today.

Check your parts list to see if it has a hole.   Or go to a shop to see if the part number for your bulb has a hole..

 Thank you for your reply yes I have been reading about these primer bulbs & see where some have holes in them Oh Oh! (as I glued mine) and some don't. I tried this one lastnight before leaving for work & it seemed to have primed gas but it was late so I did not start her.

 All I know is that when I took it off & glued up the hole it came right back up!. I only wish I had a part number for it I can't even find it on the Briggs & Stratton web site but have seen a ton of them on ebay but with out knowing the part number so much for that. Anyway today I have a doctors apointment & there is a farm & tractor store out there they have helped me in the past so I'm going to stop there & find out. I guess I just worry to much as I never seen one colapse before & was to say the least tired & mad of all things to go.

 Well anyway Thank you once again & wish me luck I guess we will see what today brings.
