Another review on the Toro single stage 3650 (same as the 2450 except for more HP and more $) Now that I've had this machine for 2 years , I can say that it has worked pretty good. It will do 85% of anything that could hit New Jersey. EOD from a big storm is tough to remove, but doable. 2 cycle machines leave you a bit smoky, but the performance is good. This machine cleans down to the slate sidewalks like no other. Watch for the correct mix (50:1) as the sparkplug will foul and you would need to remove and clean it up.

Pros:
Powerful. Light. Cleans to the bare sidewalk. Durable B&S 6.5 hp engine
Cons:
A bit loud. 2 cycle smell. Will foul sparkplugs if the fuel/oil ratio is wrong. |

This was not only my first purchase, but the first time I ever used a snowthrower. Although I'm far from an expert, I do know what works and how well it does that. The 2450 was very easy to set up. Basically, all I had to do was lift it out of the box (at 71 lbs., it was easy enough), unfold the handle, and hook up the control cable. I spent more time reading the directions than I did on setup. It started on the second pull, and since that time, it's usually the first pull. I only used it once last year, and so far, I've only used it once this year. It sure beats shoveling!
The 2450 was a bit louder than I expected, and the smell and smoke of the 2-stroke engine was about what I had expected - some may find it objectionable. It picked up the snow easily, down to the bare pavement, and threw it at least 25 feet. This year, after a 12" snowfall, I had a little difficulty dealing with the EOD. I found that taking small slices at a time was better than trying to ram through it. Although my neighbor, who has a huge 2-stage, had no difficulty blasting through his EOD, I could not have afforded his model, and I would have no place to store it. For the amount of times I'll get to use mine, and for the amount of snow we get each year, it is the perfect snowthrower.
