The 1060 DLXE is part of Simplicity’s commercial line. Every inch of it says it is ready for business. The standard list of equipment will meet most if not all of your needs: headlight, drift cutters, 5 forward and 2 reverse speeds, remote chute turn and deflector adjustment, easy turn feature and power boost.
The 10 horsepower Briggs Intek engine provides enough power to move this 240 pound beast through the deep stuff. The engine is not “Honda quiet” but is very smooth. Most snow removal will use gears 1-3. I used the creeper gear (1) through a 2 foot EOD and the power boost did not engage. The machine cut through the snow without stopping. Gears 2 and 3 can be used for the 15 inch depth snow I was clearing. Gear 4 can be used for general transit while gear 5 is so fast that it will seldom be used unless the footing is pretty good or you want to race your neighbors Ariens.
Throw distance was around 40 feet. Not as good as Honda or the newer Ariens but more than adequate. The frame is as tough as you will find in any snow thrower and the fit and finish will not disappoint even the more picky user.
I like the 24 inch width due to storage reasons and love the easy turn feature. My previous 2 stage was a Honda 724 and it was extremely difficult to get out of the garage. The Simp outweighs the Honda by almost 40 pounds and is easily maneuvered out of the garage. Another nice touch is the oil extension pipe to the rear of the machine. No more worries about running used oil on the blower.
All and all a solid investment which will provide many years of faithful service and enjoyment.
