Hunting = engine is running lean.If only till warm up it could be a vacume leak.check the bolts holding the carborator to the engine. To find a leak you could use a small propane tourch (not lit) appling a small amount of gas to various areas,if engine picks up speed or smoothes out you have found the leak.

You might want to state the type engine. mfg & hp is it brand new?First thing to try is to loosen gas cap to make sure the vent is not restricted.Next im sure some one will come here and tell you the approx setting for your carborator and that will depend on the mfg & hp of your engine.

If you cant correct the high speed adj check the main jet ,thats the brass hollow bolt that holds the bowl on. Mine had two horizontal holes(jets) in it and the small one was cloged Its so small I didnt even see it the first time I cleaned the carborator.Be carefull not to enlarge this hole (jet)I used the fine wire in side of a trash bag twist tie.

Also check the cap on the fuel tank.Mine has a plastic cap with a cork gasket the gasket had 2 tiny holes that were closed up and the cap has 1 tiny hole that can be seen with the cork gasket off I enlarged that hole to twice the original size Im thinking the cap has some sort of check valve built into it. From reading other posts this can be a common problem.
