Those bricks look none too smooth. Could be a little rough on the sensitive areas of the body. Maybe even dull the old pencil a bit. Ouch!

Hopefully he knows when to stop sharpening...would hate for him to come away with only a nub!

In that close proximity to an abrasive surface, he can't limit the amount of sharpening action, I'm afraid. The natural consequence of moving away from the bricks would be to hit the bricks on the ground below, and that would break his pencil permanently. Not that he'll likely be thinking about that, or anything else for that matter.
