Commercial vacuum cleaners have a three wire grounded cord. Sometimes that is the only difference between a commercial vacuum and its household counterpart. Some commercial uprights have only an upper cord hook. You have to coil the cord in your hand and hang it from the hook. For janitors it's easier to pick the cord off the hook and drop it on the floor. Some commercial vacuums will also have a harder bristle on the brush roll for use on short pile commercial carpets that you would not want to use on Berber or other deep pile plush carpets often found in homes today.

Well, commercial vacuum cleaners are much more reliable, durable, and powerful than the residential vacuum cleaner. Commercial Vacuum cleaners are used in hospitals, supermarkets, airports, offices, factories and other public places with high-traffic carpeting.
