I just bought the Simplicity Snow Thrower model L8526E and had a chance to use it for the first time last Monday on a 4" of snow. After about half an hour of usage the muffler started to spit sparks and then glow bright red to the point where the engine shuts itself down. So I let it cool down for about 10 minutes and start it right back up. Starts on one pull and last for about 5 minutes til the muffler glow bright red again. It continued to repeat the process for the next 4 hours til I just gave up and shovel manually for the next half an hour. With this 4" of snow, it would normally take me about 2 hours to clear with a shovel. I think this machine is a waste of money. It did not live up to its name. I had the dealer pick it up and look at. My concern is that other major problems might surface one the warranty expires. I mean it's not like I bought it from Lowes or HD where untrained workers assembled the unit; it was bought at a mom-pop dealer. My advice to anyone else out there is to consider an Arien or Toro, because My uncle and dad has them: 15 years of running strong without a problem, with the exception of a shear pin here and there.
