Also how much is a 20 year old 10hp Tecumseh engine that runs well actually worth ??(not burning any oil)

I have a John Deere 1028 snowblower  that is 20years old and I need parts.Where would  a guy go to get auger gear parts and drive gearbox parts also??I also require new skid pads. The 10hp Tecumseh runs fine but it wont blow snow and it doesn't move. The local small engine guy wants $350 to due the repairs but think I could do it myself cheaper. Are these older units worth spending the money to fix ??

Hi..

I have the same issue with my John Deere 1028 I pick-up for  $200 and when I took it to the local small engines guy out here he quoted me $350 to get it  functional again. My unit has the 10 hp Tecumseh engine and I was told that it was 20 years old.Should I spend the money to repair the unit???It runs fine and not much rust but the drive gear box and the auger gear are shot not to mention I need new skid pads etc.
