Re: Snowstorm feuding with the neighbors.......(TOP 2)

It's true you can't pick your neighbors. I cleared the driveway of my nextdoor neighbor (call him Joe - not his real name) a few times after I heard he had some back issues - and he has no snowblower. Neither Joe nor his wife even gave me a thankyou so I stopped doing it. Later on in another overnight/morning storm I was running my Ariens at 6am to clear 12" snow cove to get to work and Joe came out of his house and cursed me for making all the noise with the snowblower so early on. A Monday morning. Finally, in yet another storm which had 30mph gusts some of the snow i was throwing was getting blown across my yard into his yard (we have narrow lots and our driveways are only 20 feet apart) so he came over m to complain. I reminded him of ll the times I cleared his driveway and he said with tightened face muscles and clenched teeth, " I don't give a xxxk". On the other hand, we enjoy sharing a glass of wine with our neighbors across the street and the neighbor on the opposite side of my house from Joe do all sorts of things to help each other out.
Augur severely bent- on Ariens 8526 -can it be unbent?
#2   Feb 19, 2014 12:21 pm
The copper grounding rod for my home elec system sticks up about 3inches above ground next to my side-yard walk. I caught my augur on it severely bending the augur on only one side of the differential 4 or 5 inches outside its normal dimension just as i finished clearing our most recent 8" snow cover. Its connectionn to the differential on one side and to the augur box bushing seem unaffected by this bending event. It seems to rotates ok w/o banging anything but probably will be less efficient clearing snow next storm. If I remove it from the augur box can I perhaps get it back somewhat close to its original shape by putting a propane torch to it and hitting it with a 5lb hammer? Or is there another way? Is it difficult to remove just one side of the augur blade?
Re: Ariens 8526 goes reverse when fwd speed selected

That worked! I removed bottonm plate covering friction wheel and whem I turned that shaft 1/2 turn it moved fr wheel over to the left. I reconnected shaft and all my fwd/rev speeds/directions work as intended. Thanks for asvice.
Ariens 8526 goes reverse when fwd speed selected

Here in MA clearing snow from my driveway I noticed the bottom end of my speed selector shaft (or rod or connector- not sure what to call it) danglingling on the ground instead of being attached to a rod coming out of the rear plate. I know little about how snoblowers work so i took it back to my garage and discovered the bottom end of the speed selector can be reconnected to the steel rod coming out of the housing with a cotter pin. So I inserted the first cpin I found and continued on with my snoblowing. But then I discovered that my fwd speeds put me in reverse and my rev speeds ran me fwd. 1. How do I adjust this so I everything is back to normal and my fwd speeds go fwd and rev speeds go backwds? 2. when adjusting that wearbar under the leading edge of the augurbox should it be even with the augurbox or stick out beyond the abox- and if so how far? 1/4,1/2 inch? I just discovered this website and it looks great.
