Having owned 2 Simplicity tractors over the last 24 years, I am familiar with the quality and the cut that goes with the name. Last year a neighbor down the street had bought a new Conquest and I was just really taken in by the features and appearance of this "yard tractor". I don't know why Simplicity calls it that, because it's a "Garden tractor" by all means. It has 23" rear tires, 16" front. Anyway, with Simplicity's financing I was able to swing buying a 2005 and I couldn't be more impressed. I got my dream machine. This model has the 20HP Briggs and Stratton Vanguard V-twin. I have a 12.5 HP Vanguard V-twin with lots of abuse in my 1990 Simplicity and it still runs like a bear. Good engines. It has a 44" deck which serves my purposes well, but you can get up to a 54" deck. I've always been impressed with the Simplicity cut and this ones no different. The roller decks give a nice even cut.
Some of the key features are:
Foot controlled hydro with cruise control. Once you go foot hydro, you'll never go back. That combined with an 18" turning radius makes quick work of tight spots.
The dash has full instrumentation that includes a separate hour meter for run time and PTO time. It also has a clock and maintenance reminder that you can set, a gas gauge and low oil pressure light.
Another key feature is that it has a differential lock pedal if one of the rear wheels begins to slide. I'd like to tell you how good this feature works, but I haven't had to use it yet. Probably because the ACT or Automatic controlled traction feature performs very well. This continuously applies power to both rear wheels. If one begins to slip, the other keeps you moving. My neighbor said the Diff Lock works real well. It's basically there to pull you out of a jam.
The Quick hitch attachment removal system makes for quick deck cleaning and re-installment.
Theres more, but you really have to check one out. They just have a nice solid well built feel. And the high back seat is the best in comfort. When I was at the dealership and sat on it, I moved the seat to accommodate my short legs, pushed back into the seat and said, "oh yeah, this is the one".
