Honda lawnmower having hot start problems
Original Message   Sep 6, 2013 9:03 pm
I installed a brand new factory carb not a rebuild and still are having hot start issues. I put all the heat shields back and it is 100% as factory. I run it and fill the bag and shut it off and it will not restart unless I wait 5 mins. Choking does nothing. It seems like no ignition.  Starts right up with 1/2 pull after 5 mins. Tried different gas from different station. Still a no start till 5 mins.

HRT 216 SDA

serial  mzcg 6082975

Thanks

Bad coil maybe? I think I have heard of that causing issues on other engines.

You can check whether the spark is good or bad. What about the bad gas cap?

I just found out why it was a hard starter.  Sparkplug wire broke inside boot and the spark inside wrecked the wire. I need a new boot setup, had to  cut the wire back 1/2 inch  to find the center wire. Starts like a champ now.

Good thing the mower wasn't made by Audi.  You may need an ECU by now.

Not sure why he fixed the lawnmower on the day we had a snow storm (2"). Some area got 10" of snow and I am not ready for that stuff.

Because half the front lawn was mowed when it finally would not start no more. I found it because I gave the mower a kick and the plug boot  popped off. I had the plug off 2 weeks ago, but just pulled it off and looked inside and put it back on. The light " what a piece of shmit" kick found the problem. HA HA
