Oil-change question
Original Message   Mar 30, 2010 9:28 pm
Hi, I just got an old riding mower from my neighbor because he wanted a new one with hydro drive. The one he gave me is is pretty good condition and has only 425 hours on it. He ran it last year and when he cuts the lawn, the engine runs nice and smooth and it sounds like the spindles are good. I think I got a pretty good deal. Anyways, I wanted to know how much oil to put in when I do the oil change. It has a 12.5 Briggs & Stratton IC and its from 1993-94 according to my neighbor. I would like to get it running soon. Thanks in advance for your help.

Personally, I don't know but it's probably around a litre or a litre and a half.   Does the machine have a dipstick or any other means of measuring the oil?   Have you tried calling a lawn maintenance equipment shop?  They'd probably know.
