1130SE Dual Stage Snowthrower keeps stalling
Original Message   Jan 2, 2010 5:11 pm
Hello all

I have a relatively new John Deere 1130 SE snow blower(bought last year, only used a handfull of times), it will start with no problems but after 5-10 minutes it stalls and dies.

It will restart but continues to stall, has anyone see this before?

I assume it may be an adjustment to the carb, but the wife throw out the manual so I am not sure where to make the adjustment.

All help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Having same issue with my 930E.......read reply to your post of loosening up gas cap and will try that next time around. It might actually do the trick, as I did loosen it once or twice when trying to get restarted and seemed to fire right up after it. Then again, it might have just been sheer luck....haha....

I've heard of folks taking it back to the dealer for a carb overhaul and blaming the problem on old gas. Most of the time it's not the gas. Take apart the gas cap and figure out how the gas cap lets air into the gas tank. There are many different designs so just take it apart and figure out why air is not getting to the gas tank. I have an Ariens 1130 DLE and it's a great machine. Same type problem you have and I just took apart the gas cap and dried out the foam insert which was icing up. My Ariens machine uses a rubber washer and a small piece of foam to let air into the gas tank. Once the foam piece is wet and icy it blocks all air from the gas tank and doesn't allow gravity to do its work in letting gas flow to the carb.
