Born on date
Original Message   Jul 25, 2008 8:01 am
Thansk everybody for your feedback on my snowblowers birthdate. I remain a little confused as I have found yet a second serial and model # on the machine, this second finding tells me the serial is 009697 ( so is it a 96 or a 97?) and the model # is 924032. Does this mean it is a 92? I appreciate your help as I am trying to sell it and folks want to know what year it is.

using ariens numbers i all but impossible unless you call them.  the example i gave you is with the tecumseh engine itself.  assuming its the original engine.  post these numbers   disregard the ariens numbers.

924 series should be somewhere in the range of 1974-1979.

You can get the manuals here:

http://apache.ariens.com/cgibin/ctrg0005?SESSIONID=28702a3ad72bf4c0aa733c4cb825206b&site=arienss

The 924032 is a 724 and a very nice snowblower.  The dash controls on those have all the refinements of earlier models

and great.  It's one of the better older Ariens classics.

If the 9xxxx number you gave was from the tag on the machine where the model number was then it's a 1977.

elv,
I know im responding to this note a year and half after you posted it!
but I thought the info I have might still be helpful to you..or anyone..

I have an extensive Ariens model number database online now, been working on it for about a year:

http://gold.mylargescale.com/scottychaos/Ariens/

Your Machine is Model number 924032, and the serial number is 009697.
neither number contains a model year..924032 does not equal 1992,
009697 does not equal 1996 or 1997..
the serial number is simply a consecutive individual serial number,
and model 924032 was one of many models in the "924000 series" which ran for several decades!

924032 -009697 is one machine.
924032 -009698 is the next individual machine off the production line...
924032 -009699 is the next individual machine off the production line...
924032 -009700 is the next individual machine off the production line...

etc..

I dont yet have the exact year for model 924032, but it was built somewhere between 1974 and 1978.
hope this helps!
thanks,
Scot

Toro, Briggs and Lawnboy for the last 13 years since Toro Bought them  have the first 2 digit of the serial number to indicate the year made..

Sorry about the confusion,

Friiy
