Ariens 624 E assembly question
Original Message   Dec 10, 2007 8:33 pm
I bought a new Ariens 624E snowblower and it appears the dealer did not complete the assembly as specified in the manual for the machine. The manual says the machine should be run for at least 15 minutes with the auger engaged and then the cables should be checked. They did not do this and don't seem to feel it is important. Now my machine auger/impellor runs all the time and does not disengage even when the handle is in the full up position.  Can someone share why this step is important? I assume if it's in the manual, it's important to do???

Thanks for the input, I appreciate it.  This is really ticking me off. The whole reason I asked for a machine 'assembled and ready to blow' as they told me, was so I didn't have to mess with this now that we are under 8 inches of ice and snow this afternoon. If they aren't assembling based on the manufacturers manual, what the heck good are these people.

Handing over a machine to a customer that does not allow control of the auger and/or wheel drive is irresponsible.  It's very much a safety issue.  On the other hand, it is good for the customer to fully understand their new equipment and learn to make adjustments as necessary.  As others have recommended, pull out the manual and learn about your machine.  It will take the guess work out of future issues you may encounter.  When I got my brand new machine, I opened it up checked and lubed drive chains, inspected drive systems, belts, wheels, axles chute & deflector controls as well as adjusting the wheel drive cable.  I get a sense of comfort knowing the machine is in fact good to go.
