Thanks, the problem as I understand it with those mini bike carbs is that they have a primer button and no choke, which will make it difficult to start the snowblower in the cold.  I might try one of the newer style carbs, I was speaking with a local small engine guy and he said it should work.

Well I missed out on the motor but such is life.. I did find a gas tank for my old motor so now all I need is a carb for it.  Does anyone know if the newer style 640088/640342 carb is the one that will work with this motor?

I have an old ariens 5hp from the 70s that needs a carb and a gas tank, the frame is obviously still good.  I found a good deal on a newer tecumseh 5hp snowblower engine with a 3/4" x 2 5/16 keyed and tapped shaft.  Is this a direct bolt replacement for the older 5hp engine?  Unfortunately I can't look at my machine because it is a few hours away at my cabin up north.  Any help would be appreciated!
