I have a hard time believing it Marshall! I knew this lady who brought in a Dell laptop that she just bought. She said she turned it on and within 30 seconds or so, its started smoking. I opened it up and found that there were alot of crossconnections inside!

Dell's are just ok, once you fix them.  I thought Customer Care was better than HP.  I just Compaq's and Dell's are in the same order.  Emachines are better than they used to be though.

The computer I'm on is a Frankenstien some guy built inexpensively a few years ago for my girlfriend...

It works... (keeping fingers crossed!)

Is it a fast machine or slow? Meaning, is it good for work and internet, or can it do games too?

Kinda' OK for the internet... OK for word processing...

Don't do games... but I know it would be a dog...

only 64K ram !

Slow disk drive...

Clunky keyboard...

Not even mine...
Not bad for a guy who's a computer professional !

"Deliberate often...
...decide once..."

...means...
when deciding what OPE to buy...
get information and consider all the options/pro's/con's... etc... (deliberate)

...then make your decision one time...

Applies to any decision really...

Thanks Dave, I totaly believe in that statement! Cause you don't want to get stuck with a lemon. My first bought trimmer is a good example of that. It was the Ryobi.
