I love my new Royal Powercast it does a great job of cleaning, I have a one-floor ranch, so the weight is not an issue for me. I tried a number of uprights, and I really like how this one works. This is the type of machine the will maintain its value and abilty for many many years. I also got a good price on it from a shop where the man is retiring in a couple of months and is trying to get rid of his inventory.

I have been playing with this model in my home for aobut a month now. The carpet looks great and the machine runs smoothly over the floors too. The powercast is Royal's "step into the 21st century". The other metal machines are a little outdated in design (not knocking them, they clean great), so the company really made a good decision in trying something new.

With that, here are some of the specs;
Long, 40 ft power cord with this neat little reset switch on it.
Metal brushroll with stiffeners.
Cogged belt design.
9 year warranty.
HEPA filtration.
Attachment kit included.
Brushroll on/off switch.
Uses Dirt Devil U bags, so you can find them anywhere.

The machine is very space age and loaded with features. The only bad thing about it is the weight. For a person who wants an exceptional cleaning and an exceptionally long warranty, I think the weight can be overlooked. I like the fact that it is bypass and the tools are so easy to hook up.

So far, mostly Kirby customers have been interested in this machine. It offers many of the same selling points; deep cleaning, metal design, high end price tag. But the powercast offers more by taking the low points and capitalizing on them; hose hook up, fans breaking vs. bypass, brush on/off and warranty. I think for the price, it is a total package. Although many lower end machines may offer similar features, none carry the sturdy construction or the warranty to back it up. In a world dominated by cheap plastic vacuums, it is nice to have a new benchmark set for the metal vac world.

Overall, I am very impressed with this machine. I think it is a very good investment and will last for many years.
