Sanyo is a company more well known for their electronics, but they also make very reliable vacuum cleaners.
Eventhough I like some of their Performax uprights, I have found better compact vacuum cleaners that will perform better and are easier to use than this vacuum cleaner.
This vacuum has very little in the way of attachments. There is no upholstery tool or wall/floor brush. The user must use the turbo brush attachment to clean the floor as well as the rug. This is not a good idea if you have hardwood flooring, because something sharp(pebble) could get caught inbetween the floor and turbo brush and cause a scratch. Once the vacuum starts to fill with very fine material like alot of dust or powder, the turbo brush is useless. The turbo brush would not be adequate when cleaning carpeting even at top efficiency, because the bristles are soft and not long enough to do much to carpeting. You are also going to feel short changed when you want to vacuum the living room sofa, because there is no upholstery tool. It comes with something that is supposed to be a dusting brush, but it looks like a mini brush for cleaning computers. The nylon bristles are only 1/4-1/2" long and will curl with time. The diameter of the cleaning surface is approx. 1", so it will take a long time to clean a lamp shade. A positive point for the brush is that the head will pivot, so you can clean at different angles without causing a strain. The Sanyo comes with a telescopic wand that works very well when you do not need alot of wand or when you need more than the other member of the family. The friction fit hose/wand/attachments do not fit snuggly. The pieces work their way apart as the vacuum is being used. It can become a real pain to continually pick up the wand and reattach it to the hose. The attachments fit on the wand and not on the vacuum itself. Personally, I find this a problem when cleaning in tight spaces. The attachments have a way of being hit and then falling off. I think the hose should be longer and not so stiff, so the user could have more freedom to move around without the vacuum moving also.
The Sanyo is not for someone who has allergies, because you will need to bang the pleated filter against the trash bin to dislodge the dirt. It also comes with a little fork tool to get in the pleats of the filter. The fork will dig out fine dust that refuses to release from the filter. Periodically, the pleated filter will need to be washed. This is a plus, since some companies charge alot to replace filters.
This vacuum cleaner does have very good filtration when it is running, but then again you might be suffering when it comes time to empty and clean the filter.
While the Sanyo Bagless Canister has the power to clean, the vacuum may be difficult to use and the dirt container/filter harder to clean. I prefer to recommend a Eureka/Sanitaire Mighty Mite for people who want a compact canister vacuum that is convenient to use.
