Dyson is in Decline, PART II (but should have ruled!)
Original Message   Jan 17, 2009 6:40 pm
With the introduction of the portable, stick, shop and hand vacs with the dual cyclonic technology, Dyson would have been on the market for 7 yrs or so. Hoover, Eureka because of their names and maybe Oreck because of their light weight would still be around. The suppliers of after market parts would be drying up, due to lack of sales of vacs needing repair. Bags would be all but impossible to buy because of decreased demand, thus the paper plants would cease to make them. The vacuum buying public is being introduced to the smaller vac categories with the cyclonic technology. All this time Dyson has prospered, and *legally* gutted all of the competition. The few lawsuits by dying competitors have only served to hasten their demise. This is a unique and completely defensible concept, and no one heard of it until Dyson marketed it as a retrofit. He has been applying for patents all through this process had has beaten everyone to the punch. Instead of going to one manufacturer after another only to be turned down, he just makes them irrelevant, and preys on the public's frenzy for something new that they perceive will save them money. After all, no one really likes to spend money on a vacuum cleaner, right? But all the reasons to buy a new vacuum apply to buying the retrofit kits. And no one notices the vacuum companies fading away, because everyone has a vac that works, right?

Now the full court press advertising for the new full-size Dyson bagless vacuums kicks in, a solid year before their introduction. The dealers are signed up, and surviving on the small vac sales and repairing the last of the old vacuums. No one will buy anything else but a Dyson, why would they? All the other manufactuers are dead or dying. There are people lined up at the Dyson dealers waiting, credit cards and cash in hand. Like the mid year intoduction of the Mustang in 1964. Give a small trade in on any vacuum retrofitted with the Dyson bagless conversion, which will be kept and refurbished for anyone who cannot afford the new Dysons, until:

The Coup de Gras:

Dyson purchases the Hoover and Eureka names, and uses his patents, as they expire, to resurrect the two most recognized names in vacuum cleaners, and put them back in big box stores, leaving the repair to their local vac shops, AKA, Dyson dealers. The Flagship line NEVER makes it to the mass retailers, but every vaccum sold in North America would be a Dyson, even if it said Eureka or Hoover. James, You f****** IDIOT!
