could it be a blocked vent in the gas cap.  try again with cap loose or off.    fitting clear fuel line helps checking fuel related problems too.  eric e. still looking for 1988 craftsman  5/28 snowthrower, sears, part number
need sears part number for craftsman 8/28 snowblower from 1988 536xxxxxx

hi all

i'm a new member in japan who has just bought a snowblower. it's a japanese  mitsubishi DSB71 and everyone here tells me parts are impossible to get as it's so old and no body has ever seen one like that before.

from my net research it appears that's going to be almost identical to the craftsman 8/28 which also has trac drive and the same 8hp BS sno-gard engine, probably built by murray for mitsubishi

on ebay i saw a listing for a craftsman 5/23 and that had a part number of  536.884810

with that number i was able to check that sears still had parts and downloadable drawings etc. if i can get the sears number for the 8/28 i should be set
