Stupid Mistake

I used my front tine tiller late last week for about 20 minuets I went to use it yesterday and I couldn't engage the tines the fly wheel was froze up. Then it dawned on me I did all the normal service to it except checking the gear oil totally forgot (stupid stupid). I check the gear lube and it was dry I refilled with 80-90w gear lube but it is froze tight. My question how does one go about taking this apart, fixing this. I love this old tiller a 5hp 1975 JC Penny did work great. I like it better than my 3 year old rear tine.
