What's the difference between TECUMSEH starter 33328A, 33328B, 33328C and 33328D?
Original Message   Jan 24, 2013 5:11 pm
Title asks it all....

HSK70 calls for a 33328C.   Will the other 33328's work just as well?

Thanks.

What I have found with Tecumseh is the letter on the end of a part number just indicates a revision. Every time they find something wrong with the previous part and update the design they change the letter on the end so most likely they are all the same.

I've bought about a half dozen or so to put on blowers and I've noticed up to 6 differences between them.

Some have a fine tooth gear vs the course 16 tooth gear.

The plastic snout that snaps onto the gear was shorter on one than the rest

The upper mounting tabs on some are slotted vs being a full hole.  This requires a stepped bolt in the upper 2 holes, but make it easier to mount.

The length of the wire between the starter and the starter button differs in length.

The starter plug is either the older gray plastic unshrouded plug or the black plastic with the shrouded plug.

Not sure what one was made for but the actual starter motor on one appeared to be a shorter length than the others.

I've swapped a starter from a 7 onto a 10 HP without a problem before so if it fits, it likely will work.  Real issue found was where to mount the starter button in some cases.
