Where can I get a normal gas can?
Original Message   Dec 2, 2012 8:30 pm
One with a vent? Without it the gas doesn't come out! Well, it dribbles out. So the same folks who gave us only toilets that don't flush and light bulbs that won't light, now don't want us to pour gas? I don't get it. Haven't messed with the new carbs yet. Are they capable of workhorsing an engine like the old fashioned ones? I thought the vent was a safety thing for pressure.

It is difficult to see how some of these el cheapo cans get regulatory approval.  The ones that have a small black cap that screw down over a domed hole to provide a vent while pouring are, in my opinion, dangerous.  I have seen many where the black cap gets cracked and holed where it meets the sharp dome under it as it is screwed down.  Store that can near an ignition source and you got a recipe for......a garage fire.  And I haven't seen one yet that doesn't leak gas around the supposedly sealed spout where it meets the lip of the can - no matter how tight you make it..

Type II cans pour just fine.

If plastic , just drill a hole, make your own vent with a plug you can remove.

If you go to e bay search up member elisgeneralstore2012. Click on item's for sale he has vent caps. 1/8 pilot hole  then 1/2 wood bit hold the cap over the hole hit with a hammer and snap it in place 1 minute job. Plastic can only of coarse. Will turn that piece of junk can into something that works. Will dump fuel in and sound like a jet motor. I think it may work even better than the old cans if your going for a full dump as you now have two vents well 1  and  1/2 anyways

Don't even joke about that ... it's way too likely to happen. Dammit.

Who the hell let all the morning people run things?
