Swap Toro 521 Engine onto Toro 724 with blown engine
Original Message   Feb 3, 2011 10:51 pm
My problem is a blown auger gearbox on a Toro 521 (Model38052, SerNo 9004210). I haven't come up with a reasonably priced replacement for the gearbox but someone offered to sell me his Toro 724 (Model: 31677, SerNo: 600725) that has a blown motor. The auger gearbox castings look identical but the shafts and bearings are not.... SO, Any chance a Toro 521 (HS50-67259H) motor would fit onto a Toro 724 (H70-130176C) snowblower? I have taken a close look at schematics of the two units and think it may work but I can't find a dimensional print to confirm it. I don't want to buy the unit only to find out it doesn't fit. Thanks for your insights

It will work. I have a 524 with a 724 engine mounted on it, no mods. The original engine was the same as the one on the 521.
