briggs 8HP muffler
Original Message   Nov 26, 2010 2:53 pm
I have a briggs 190402 8hp on my Toro snowblower. the engine is a replacement and is a 1972 vintage.

It runs really good but the thing is so loud I have to wear hearing protection when I operate it

If I warm it up on my driveway I can hear it plain as day in the house.

I'm going to replace the mufflerwith another briggs one but I don't want to if it won't make it any quieter

Any suggestions to bring down the noise level?

PS we've had 50 cm of snow this month in Winnipeg( 20 inches for you non-metric types)

thanks

Doug

Ah Winterpeg. The only city I've ever been in where even the hotels have plugs ins for block heaters and the site of block heater extensions wrapped around side mirrors is a common site. (Sorry, just had to get that dig in)

Cheers
