Tecumseh Eng uses oil
Original Message   Nov 1, 2010 9:32 am
Generator  DeVilbiss PowerBack  5000  GT 5010-1 10 horse  Tecumseh Eng  Has always used maybe 1 oz of oil an hour running
after about three hours the low-oil switch shuts it down.

Only about half way down the add oil mark on dip stick.

The Gen is 10 years old but only has about 30 hours on it

Any help

Hello,
Does it smoke? What does it run like?  check the compression to see if it is the rings. Sometimes the rings get gummed up with carbon. Take out your plug and Spray a good amount of PB blaster in your cylinder, let it soak over night. Change your oil with some good cynthetic 5W30. Turn your engine over the next day to blow out any oil left in your cylinder.Restart you engine and keep an eye on your oil level.I hope that helps
