Chute "Extenders" for 2002 Ariens 1024 Pro
Original Message   Oct 4, 2010 5:46 pm
Hi Everyone:
When the chute on my 1024 is all the way to the right or left, I get a facefull of snow.  I seem to remember, a long time ago, discussion on this forum about some sort of side extenders for this problem, but couldn't bring anything up with a search.  I see new Ariens have a deeper U-cross section to their chutes.  Does anyone (Snowman) know if/how I could find the extenders?
Thanks in advance, great forum -- I lurk all the time.

No idea on extenders, but you could try lowering the top spout when it is windy if you don't need to throw far.

Another option could be one of those snow cabs for walk behinds.

You could always get some  thin sheat metal, cut it / form it to your needs,  bolt or pop rivet it on....

Your imagination is your limit...

Do it and post pictures... We will armchair/ Monday quarterback it for you..

Good Luck,

Or you could line the inside of the chute with teflon sheets, and put on some ski wax. More horsepower? Arg argh....

What is your model and serial number? I think what you are referring to is from a few years newer than your unit.

Hey thanks everyone but, I think Snowman rules.  The model is 924117, serial 001338, delivered 11/23/2002, and if I remember correctly, it was a leftover from the year before.
It has been a great machine with only routine maintenance, but this year I want to go completely through it, new belts, friction wheel, these extenders if I can come up with something
and I'm adding drift cutters.
Thanks again.

The right side bolt-on chute baffle was for the 1st generation THF chute produced in 2003. The chute was later made deeper. Your unit used the prior lower trajectory chute which isn't a candidate for this baffle. In those days chutes rotated a little farther than they do today (on many brands). With certain snow and wind conditions it's quite possible someone, especially taller folks, could get a faceful if the chute is turned to it's extemity of rotation.

Thanks a lot Snowman, guess I'll live, or maybe I'll fab something myself to see if it helps.
