Backfiring
Original Message   Feb 11, 2008 7:31 pm
I have an Ariens 1027 (this years model) and when I slow it down from full speed to a low idle or shut it off I usually get a couple of backfires.

Is this something to be concerned about, or is there an adjustment to the carburator that can be made to stop the backfires?
It has a 10Hp, Tecumseh L-Head motor.

Thanks!

l would suspect the machine is running lean, although your carb probally isn't adjustable (if so adjust richer) you will have to take it apart and clean it dirt may be retricting the fuel. if the engine runs lean it gets too hot and the exhuast tempature are too high so when the unburnt fuel hits it, it backfires hope this helps
