Help with decision Ariens 926001 vs 921002/1027LE
Original Message   Oct 29, 2007 5:54 pm

Hi

I’m trying to decide between the Ariens 926001 vs the 921002

The 926001 is selling at $1000 and the 921002 at $1200. The only difference that I’m aware of is the 921002 is ½ HP more and has the Fingertip Axle lock/unlock. Am I missing something and in your opinion  are those two features worth $200

I went over the top, I got the Simplicity P10524E.  I really liked the size 10.5 HP, 24 in @ 245 lbs; easy to man handle very well balanced takes no effort to lift the front by leaning on the handle bars.

My only concern and almost kept me from buying it is the electric chute. I know it’s something that will fail unlike a manual crank chute.

Does anyone have any experience with the Simplicity electric chute?

Hello, I just bought the same snowblower you did. I wondered about the electric chute also, but this is an awesome machine. Can't wait till it snows so we can try them out. The easy turn feature is great and the OHV motor is quiet and strong. The heated handgrips are a great plus also. Bring on the snow!!

I purchased the Simplicity P10524E this fall too.  I was a bit leery about the electric chute as well.  The sales guy said it is a common windshield wiper motor and is easily replaced.  He only knew of one instance of it failing.  The user did not clean off the machine after use and allowed the motor and gears to get heavily iced over.  The next time he used it, he burned out the motor trying to force it free by joggling the control … not a good idea.  I’ve used he machine a few times now, I am starting to enjoy using the electric chute control.  It’s a one finger operation to readjust the chute while on the move.  Overall the P10524E is an impressive blower!  It has the power to throw the heaviest of slush.  It’ll easily throws the fluffy stuff 40+ feet.  It is a well balanced machine and easy to control.  My wife weights 125 lbs and she can maneuver it with ease.  The P10524E actually makes snow removal fun!

One day after I replied on this blog, I must recant!  Such as my luck.  Last night we received another 4 in of snow.  While using my P10524E, the electric chute jammed to the left.  I was thinking, … Oh great, the electric chute motor went out.  Luckily though, after looking at the workings closeer, the chute’s teeth, and the electric turning gear became misaligned.  Apparently, when the machine was assembled at the store I bought it at, the techs did not tighten down the drives' three adjustment screws. After adjusting the fit, and tightening down the screws, I was back to throwing snow a miracle mile.  I still think the P10524E is a fraking engineering marvel the way it handles the snow!
