Broken weld on snowblower auger
Original Message   Oct 15, 2007 7:03 pm
I have a 10 HP 28 inch White snowblower with a weld (the weld attaching the auger to the central collar) broken on the center end of the auger on one side.  My questions is how do I get the auger off the shaft?   It seems easy to undo the three bolts on the outside end auger support but I do not see how I can get the center end off without taking the gearbox apart and I am nervous about taking it to be rewelded on the machine as the weld is so close to the gearbox with oil and seals close by.  Needless to say, I have no manual for this machine.  I am wondering if the job might be beyond my capabilities to fix at home.  Thanks in advance for any advice.
