Craftsman 8hp-25'' from the 90's with carb problems.
Original Message   Sep 20, 2007 11:45 am
My buddy as a Craftsman 8hp snow blower that runs but he seems to have carb problems sometime the engine seems to revup like crazy for no reason at all does anyone no what can be done. I was thinking of taking the carb off and cleaning it carefully in case its gummed up.

Thanks for any kind of info.

Cleaning is a good idea. A lot of people don't drain their gas tanks and run their engines dry at the end of the season. Nor do they use gas stabilizer. This adds up to gummed up carburetor syndrome.

It would also be a good idea to replace any of the gas lines at the same time. They get old, stiff and crack.

Fresh gas and an oil change would also be a good idea.

Finally get the owner's manual and perform all of the end of year maintenance that you haven't already done.
