Ferris blades
Original Message   May 3, 2007 1:04 pm
 Hi,

I recently purchased a 2003 Ferris IS 1000 with a 48 inch deck and 21hp kawasaki and am extremely pleased with it. My only complaint is that the cut grass seems to hang up in the deck and falls out in clumps as I mow. I scrape and clean the deck after each mowing. The deck is rust free and clean underneath. I thought maybe a set of gator blades would help or painting the underside of the deck with graphite paint would help . Any suggestions would be great.

                                                                                                                       Thanks,

                                                                                                                               Andy

I had a  Yard Works that was doing the same thing. It was new and therefore needed no painting under the deck and I cleaned it after every use but it continued to keep clumping the grass.

What I did was remove  (not sure what it is called) the small end piecce (plastic) from the mower deck where the cut grass is ejected from. It was getting clogged up there as the opening was too small for the amount of grass that was being cut.

It did not effect the safety of the mower, simply opened up the ejection area and stopped the clumping of grass as it was being expelled.

It worked for me.
