18.5 craftsman hydrostatic tranny question?
Original Message   Jun 17, 2006 12:58 am
I had to split the case to fix a broken gear and am wondering how much fluid and what kind should I put in back in?

Was your tranny designed for service, or did you just do that yourself?  Where did you get the gear that you replaced?  Does yours have a check valve for the tranny fluid levels?  Mine is the tranny on a 19.5 HP hydro, about 10 yers old, and it slips especially after running 10-15 minutes.  Sears says they are not serviceable and I should just buy a new one, at $800.
