Surging and firing in muffler
Original Message   Jan 29, 2006 9:51 pm
Just picked up a Toro 8  HP snowblower. It starts right up but surges and fires an explosion in the muffler. Scares the hell out of me!  Why is it doing this and how do I fix it?

Also, I would like to clean the carburetor. Do I just spray cleaner in the intake or do I have to take the carburetor apart? Thanks John

Sounds like your carb does need cleaning. Take it completely apart and soak it overnight in metal parts cleaner. If you can, blow it out with compressed air and install a carb kit. Should solve your problem.
