A day at the races
Original Message   Jul 23, 2005 11:34 pm
Hi Gang. I finally made it to the lawnmower races that are held in a small rural town about 1/2 hr north of where I live. These machines really are glorified go carts, but a lot of fun to watch. Nice day for a drive out in the country. These bad boys were my favorite. Simplicity broadmoor hoods and 25 HP B&S inteks.

Heres "Team JD". over all a rough day for them with some mechanical problems. These machines do take a beating though.

Heres a Poulan/AYP. Ummm, not to sure about that color

Some race action. Only one major mishap when one guys wheel came off. Spindle and all. He was a little shook up
but OK.

Kevin

The one I went to was held at dark so I don't have very good pictures.  I like the light teal color on the AYP.  It's a very good choice for entertainment when you need some.

Hi AJace. More of a powder blue on that AYP. More suited for a powder puff race.   LOL

Chris, Of course I was rooting for the Simple guys. I did think they were the nicest looking machines. Well, i am a little biased.

Mountainman, your right about the Nascar race. I grew up in the North Pocono area, about 1/2 hr. from the track. The only time I was there was for a rock concert in the early 70's. Don't remember much about that day.  LOL  Just that it was a long day and it rained. Where I live now is only about 45 minutes away.

I have company coming soon, but when I get a chance I'll post more pics.

Heres a few more pics. Not sure what kind of tractor these hoods came from. Anybody want to take a guess?

Heres a good  rear view of the Simps with the 25HP  B&S Inteks.

More racing action. Gets a little dusty. They watered the track down at "halftime".

Thats pretty cool! I have never raced a lawnmower before lol. Hay, how fast do those things go? I have a friend that really like to race cars and stuff. I am not so much into racing as him but if I was given a chance to race a lawnmower, I just might make a exception lol

I like the Simplicitys with the Intek's.  I see one has a dual exhaust.  Some ingenuity needed to be applied there.
