pull start on ariens 1128

Tryed to post this on "WTB" but not to many replies so I will try this site. Ok after running my ariens for the first time for about an hour I shut it down for about 5 to 10 minutes then went to go and start it again the pull start felt like it had a lot of force behind it but I pulled it anyway and the cord broke so I fixed the cord but it still has a lot of force behind it. Any ideas on how to fix the problem?

Hi... Maybe the drivetrain or auger are still engaged... ? Should be able to pull slowly and turn the engine over... Dave...

My 1128 also had a similar problem where the pull start was very difficult. I plugged in the electric start & started the endgine & the next time, the pull start was easy to pull again. I think what happened was that I did not let the cord retract 100 percent before the next pull. Somehow, the second pull was very tight & did not let me pull out all the way, so I use the electric start because I did not want to break the cord. I don't know what I did, but the pull start kind of reset itself.

Yes there is oil in the engine and she does start with the electric start.
