Riding Mower Manual Trans.

Have a Norma Riding Mower that I was doing some spring pre season service on today and I was up under it and inspecting the belts .While looking unger there I noticed a drain plug on the bottom of the transmission or gear unit but no plug on the top or side to fill it. Any body know how to check the level ? Thanks in advance for any help. I
