Re: Old Ariens Wheel Upgrade Needed
#1   Feb 18, 2006 4:49 pm
Thanks for the info I appreciate it. The steel wheelsI, with the shaft I have are 7"in dia. & seem to be one piece. Well actually the center hub is riveted with 6 rivets so it appears to be one piece. The tires are 7 " x 12-13" tall. Thats way I would like to ugrade. I went on ebay at your suggestions & found a set (tires & steel wheels)that I think I could make work with very little working. So thanks
Old Ariens Wheel Upgrade Needed

I have an old model Ariens Snow Throw Model unknow. I have bald solid hard tires ( approx. 12" tall) on it with chains. Otherwise it would'nt move in the snow. I purchased it used 6 years ago & rebuilt it with the exception of wheels. I would like to upgrade the rims & tires but I haven't been able to locate the right parts. I have a 3/4" shaft with a 3-16" keyway. If I had to drill the shaft for a bolt to hold a new rim assembly on, that would be no problem. I feel with chains on I get alot of unwanted vibration.  I just need to be pointed in the right  direction for parts.  Any Ideas? Thanks John

Joe I liked your wheel upgrade. I have an old model Ariens Snow-Thro very similar to yours with bald hard solid tires. I have been looking to upgrade to new neumatic tires & rims. I have a 3/4" shaft. Can you tell me where you purchased your rims & tires with part numbers? I have been going nuts but I don't have a model number of my snowblower to go by. Right now I'm using a set of chains, but I would still like to upgrade the wheels. I would have to drill the shaft also buts thats no a problems. This snowblowert is in great shape & works fine. I rebuilt it a few years ago, but I was never able to locate the right rims & tires. Any help you can give me would be great.. Thanks John
