New Husqvarna Snowblower
Original Message   Dec 3, 2005 12:15 pm
I just picked up a new Husqvarna 10527SBE, wanted to get the Ariens 926LE but everyone ran out of them. Looked at the Toro but was over my budget for the features I wanted. I liked my older Areins but it just didnt have the power for the heavier storms and the EOD. Also my drive is single wide 85'+ long, and due to an adjasent drive I have to double blow the snow for about 35 ft. I liked the power steer, and remote hood deflection feature on yhe Husky. Does anyone have this machine and if so has it lived up to your expectations? Im hoping for some snow in the next couple of days to try it out.

They make great gear. I am buying a Husqvarna chainsaw soon. I imagine they put the same quality in their snowblowers. Let us know how you like the steerable abilities of your blower. That is a name you can trust.

YKW1,

Congrats on your new toy.

I have the Husky 927STE, which I bought last year, I love the way it is controlled.

I have not used it to blow snow yet, as I bought it in Febuary, 2005

However  one of my neighbors, 4 doors up from me has the same blower as yours.

He bought it at lowes last fall for $899.00, he had a 10% off coupon

We only had on big snow event last year in Dover, De.

He said it blew snow over 40 feet, and was a jewel to control!!

He just thought it performed beautifuly.

I picked it up from a local dealer for 959.99 + tax including free setup, I thought that was a pretty good deal.

YK,

If you want a parts breakdown on your machine, go to the Poulan web site.

When there, snowblowers, then your model, then owners manual, then Parts!

Husky , Poulan and Electrolux all are the same machines, just a different color and name!!!

The are made by AYP a sub of Electrolux!!

Thanks Jubol, I have the manual, there are plenty of full service Husky dealers in the area, so parts and service wont be a problem. Im looking out at the snow falling just waiting to go out and fire up my new toy.

YK,

Download the parts description,.

If you have the parts number that you need, you can  check prices at sears and many othe parts suppliers.

Much cheaper than a husky dealer.

Only had maybe 2" of wet snow but took it out anyways.

I started it up and WTF the impeller isnt spining. I take off the belt cover and find the belt off the lower pulley. I had to drop the whole front end assy to get the belt back on. (And yes it was prepped by a "professional dealer"

Then I needed to adjust the skid plates to get scrapper lower, not a complaint, except the cheap bolt snapped. Probebly I used to much tork, after all I was in a pissed off mode still.

Every time I have it in any higher gear than 1st , The front end does a wheelie, way to lite . ( Would a weight bar help)??

I liked the power steering, but wished the chute would rotate atleast another 10 degrees in each direction.

I also never got the power cord with it. Not that I have an outlet to plug it in, just a note

I find the klink pins very easy to remove. In fact to easy that Im afraid they may get knocked off in heavy snow and ice and lose a wheel. Better have spares handy

Did I make a mistake??     Should I have gotten the Ariens 926LE???

Of course its Sunday so I can't call up and scream at my dealer... And Im a little descusted as I write this... Gee doe's it Show

PS: I forgot to mention it was very easy dropping the impeller section to facilitate replacing the belt. It was actually eaiser than replacing belts on my old Ariens ST524 (1989)

I have  an  Ariens 1128DLE. I put it in "high gear"  at full throttle  today and  engaged the drive. No wheely but
I almost pulled my arms out of their sockets. lol

I have run into a few so called "professional" mechanics  which is why I do all the repairs myself. That way, I never have any problems. If you want it done right, you have to do it yourself.

I havent had a chance to get back to the dealers yet. I have calmed down since I posted Sunday, just kind of over reacted.

After replacing the belt it ran fine. I think I just need some operating time to get used to it. It handles a lot different than my old 5hp Ariens.

With out getting into a Proffesional series Ariens, must of the machines seem very similar in and around the same price range.

Hopefully we may have a snow storm last in the week so I can get a chance to try it out again.

Hi:

Well I did a surgical strike at my local Husky dealer and walked away with the 10527SBE for $1070. Including tax and delivery. This is the first time in my 56 years that I have ever stood behind a running snowblower. I just got it and ran it through the 5 inches of snow we have out there right now. I assume it is more Snowblower than I will ever need. Very easy and intuitive to use except for the left power steering lever which is hard to use with the throttle in the left hand. I assume the adjustable thing at the end of the chute is awesome if you never had one. Later today, I'll have to go out and finish the job after the plows come by and I'm gonna run a path around the back yard for the pet greyhound. I'll post after I finish.

When you go to blow on a lawn, set the scraper  about 1 to 2 inchs high.

Just got done w/ 8-10" wet snow, it cut thru like butter. Still having problems getting used to the steering lock levers, I keep grabbing them for wheel and auger activation. Im used to my old Ariens which had bottom levers.

After my drive I then went and did 3 niegbors just for fun.

Going to change the oil this weekend after I let it warm up, to tired and cold to do it now. Also need top make a few cable adjustments, but I guess thats to be expected.

I checked out the Ariens 926DLE with the 9.5 OHV , real sweet w/ the differencial. A heavy duty machine. Just couldnt see spending the extra $500.

I just purchased a 10530SBE and so far so good. The only problem is with the chute adjuster (left to right). The lever is EXTREMELY hard to move. I checked all the mechanical mounting points and they seem to be free. I suspect the cable is the issue. Has anyone experienced this problem and if so what is the solution to fix it?

Hey everyone! New to the forum.

Just picked up a Husqvarna 10527SBE. Have only used it once but it worked quite well in semi-heavy (26-30 degree temps). The snow was probably around 12" deep and throwing it 20-25'. It handled the 18 inches (or so) of plowed snow at the street without problems also.

It was a somewhat spur of the moment purchase but the price was just too good to pass up. The local Ace Hardware had them marked down for the season. Their regular price was (I believe $1149.99) and it was on sale for $929.99. I actually went to Ace to get a snow shovel.....they were sold out so I got the Husky. It's alot more fun to use than a shovel too. Had I been shopping for a snow blower, I would have looked to Ariens. From what I've seen, my Husqvarna was made by the same company that makes (at least some of) the Ariens models. (AYP?) I doubt that I could have purchased the same Ariens for even close to the price I got this one for.

Snow is falling now with 4-8 inches expected by the time is stops tomorrow evening. I hope I don't have any problems but I'll put it to work again tomorrow and report its performance.

I'd also be interested in a repair manual also, if possible.

Thanks!!

P. Hicks

Blower worked well! We only had 4 or 5 inches total but there was a little drifting. The deepest drifts were only 8 or 10 inches, though. The temps were in the high 20's to low 30's so the snow was fairly heavy. The snow that was closest to the ground was really wet and heavy....almost slush. Went through all of it with no problems at all, as expected.

My only complaint about this machine is it's size for my use. My driveway is about 110' long and single wide for about half of its length. A smaller snowblower would have been better for maneuverability. I have to overblow about half of my drive and wanted a machine big enough to do that without any problems.  I guess a "too big" snow blower *can* be a problem but I'd rather have that as a problem rather than a machine that won't handle the snow.

Hi tgregoire,

Had the same problem last year on my 10-30. return it to dealer for carb ajust. and he reroute the cable ...much easier play on the lever. Also wath that there is no water in a cable that goes down and up. When it is very cold the water freese and the cable jam. Good luck .

Paid  $2000 canadian for that thing and i am deceive ,bucket is not aligning with the rest and it pull on the left.dealer says there is nothing he can do I am gone to sell it and by a blower that fit on my Polaris

Also make small cut on the cable black sheat as it goes down so water will drip from these opennings. That cable is way too long but what can you do.it is made that way.

Good luck

I am in Canada.    We have a different line of Craftsman snowblowers than are sold in the USA.     Our higher price models are built by Husqvarna, and offer all of the same featuresas the husq models but are red instead of orange.

I have the Husq built Craftman 52993 , 27 inch, 305  14.5 torque Briggs and Stratton, Hydrostatic drive (built by Hydro Gear)  It has trigger type power steering,  heated grips.  , the discharge shute is operated by a short travel lever and the chute deflector is operated by another short travel lever on the console panel. The hydrostatic is operated by a single lever, with no clutching.  It is variable speed,  move the lever forward   to go forward , move it back to  backup, the further you move the hydro lever forward, the faster is your ground speed. Same with reverse. You can shift directly from forward to reverse  without stopping .Torque is the same at all speeds.  The torque multiplication is over 20-1 . You can travel much slower (creeper speed) than any friction drive snowblower.  so you do not stop moving forward , no matter how deep the snow is.

I have had  this  machine for only a month , but we have had 4 big storms, over 50 cm (20 inches)  for one storm and over 30 cm (12 inches) for the others.  My  machine has worked very well,  My neighbours all have similar size snowblowers , John Deere, Toro, MTD, and an older Murray built Craftsman, They are 26-28 inch,     11.5 -14.5 torque and 11.0 to 11.5 horsepower.  Where the snow plow pushes the snow into the end of the driveway is always the hardest . It can be up to 4 feet deep,  My hydro equipped machine will go through it without stopping at a creep speed. , the engine speed doesn't change and its sound does not change. The other snow blowers will not go directly through this heavy packed snow. The operators have to back up , make several tries at it, pushing their machine and  wiggling them to get through , their engines lugging down and making a lot of noise.

I am answering an old post,  but it is still snowing.

It's quite ironic, actually.  There was no way DavidNJ could be convinced to see the benefits of hydrostatic transmission.  This person is the exact opposite.

Royster,

You seem to be a smart guy.  Can you go over in detail the advantages of the hydro and explain it's operation?   What are the bad points of a friction disk system?  What's the money breakpoint advantage of one over another?
