DEAR JEFF;
A FANTOM VACUUM DOES A GREAT JOB PICKING UP ANIMAL HAIR.  I ONCE HAD A FANTOM AND I HAVE A CAT THAT SHEDS ALL THE TIME.  IT PICKED IT UP LIKE MAGIC...MANY KENNELS USE THEM AND I HAVE NOTHING BUT GREAT REVIEWS!

A Sebo Automatic X-1 will do the best job for your situation it is controled by a computer and automaticaly adjust to the best carpet height and you will never have to change belts the belt is a gear belt that will not slip like flat belts and if something gets in the brush roller like a shoe lace or rag the vacuum will automatically shut off before the belt can break and it will keep from damaging the motor.
The vacuum is German made and cost around $450 to $500 will last up to 30+ years
