Finally! Under a WSW with this from the NWS:
USING THE GARCIA METHOD WHICH LOOKS AT 700 MB MOISTURE ADVECTION FOR SNOW AMOUNTS…THERE COULD BE 3 TO 6 INCHES OF SNOW DURING A 12 HOUR PERIOD. WITH THE EVENT EXPECTED TO LAST ABOUT 24 HOURS…SNOW AMOUNTS WILL LIKELY RANGE FROM 5 TO 8 INCHES. THE NAM AND GFS ARE EVEN HINTING AS SOME ELEVATED INSTABILITY ACROSS EASTERN KS…WHICH COULD HELP IN INCREASING SNOWFALL RATES AND TOTAL AMOUNTS. WE ARE FAIRLY CONFIDENT THAT MOST AREAS WILL SEE 4 TO 6 INCHES…AND THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR POSSIBLY 6 TO 8 INCHES WITHIN A 12HR WINDOW.

I had been waiting for the "Perfect Storm" conditions to try this out. It just seemed to make a whole lot of sense seeing that I can blow huge volumes of leaves and other yard debris with my BR550. I would guess it would work equally well on up to 6" of the light, fluffy stuff we get sometimes during really cold snow storms. I live in an oak forest so my requirements for a good leaf blower can not be overstated. Most reviews I read compare the Stihl and Echo Backpack Blowers as being equally on par with each other. My Stihl will move bricks (no exaggeration) and other heavy objects that my old McCulloch Backpack Blower could never even think of moving.

Yeah the single stages are really good for the light snowfalls which is all we seem to get lately. The leaf blower idea is good too but I doubt it would work very well if the snow was heavy even if it was just 2-3". For powder tho, it would be amazing!

Must be working. Storm is heading my way. I tricked the snow gods by summerizing the snowblower and bringing out the lawnmower and string trimmer. The forecast calls for 2 to 6 inches.

I actually started a thread specically for this sort of thing. Waxing your snowblower will have the same result as washing your car. All nice and clean and shiny! New England weather especially loves to get everything dirty. We had a drought this past year and I didn't wash my car all summer. Coincidence? I think not!

This current storm will completely pass us by which is good because I don't want to see any more snow for the rest of the winter.
