Brita’s gotta get Betta
Brita’s in hot water again, albeit filtered. Canadian officials have complained to that country’s Advertising Standards, saying Brita, one of the most popular water purifying systems, is misleading people in their print and TV advertising.
They say Brita’s commercials claim tap water isn’t safe to drink if not passed through a Brita filter. Brita complied and altered the ads via a disclaimer indicating municipal water is indeed safe to drink, but the officials say it’s not enough. Whether you believe Brita or not, just check with your local municipal government for water standards in your area.
