Upright Vacuums

Wander down the row of vacuums at a retailers and the upright will occupy the most real estate. It is the most common type in stores. The upright vacuum comes with a ton of attachments for drapery and upholstery cleaning, getting into corners, etc. You may or may not need this variety in your cleaning chores.

A primary choice when it comes to an upright vacuum cleaner is whether to go with the bag variety to hold all the dirt the cleaner picks up, or bagless with the dirt accumulating in a container. It is personal preference which will suit you the best. However, if you go with the bag type, you will spend time and money finding trying to find just the right bag for your machine. This can be as easy as a quick trip to the retailer, or turn into a nightmare of letters and numbers that don’t quite match and definitely don’t fit your vacuum. They are not all that cheap either. However with the bagless vacuum, you will be cleaning the filters regularly as they clog with dust. And when the container is filled with debris, cleaning it out may be a tad messy and dusting producing.

The upright can be quite light or exceedingly heavy. If you are doing a lot of up and down the stairs work, look for a lighter vacuum that will not tire you out or keep you from finishing the job. Think about your personal strength, stamina and layout of your house before you purchase a real heavy vacuum cleaner.

Storing your upright is fairly simple. You can stick it in a closet or in a corner of your laundry room and grab it when you need it with a modicum of efforts.

Uprights work well with carpet, due to the rotating brush. However this same brush can scatter the dirt on a wood or tiled floor and not perform as efficiently as you want.
